Friday – July 4 – Stars & Stripes Enduro Presented by Shifters

This Friday, July 4th Kalamazoo Speedway will celebrate Independence Day with the running of the “Stars & Stripes Enduro Presented by “Shifters”. The event will be a road course event and the layout of this year’s track should be a driver and fan favorite! Also in competition will be the Vores Compact Touring Series, who will kick off the action for the evening. Once the fireworks are completed on the track fans will be able to turn their attention to the skies for the largest fireworks display in Kalamazoo Speedway history!

Twelve-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Kalamazoo Speedway Outlaw Super Late Model champion Andy Bozell picked up the victory in Saturday night’s “LKQ 50” at Kalamazoo Speedway. Bozell held off a hard charging Todd Harrington for the victory while fast qualifier Mark Shook, Luke Krick and John Chapman rounded out the top five. Adam Terry finished a solid sixth ahead of Phil Bozell, Mike “Bubba” Brooks, Rick Senneker and Matt Krywosinski.

The Outlaw Super Late Models also ran the “Texas Corral 50”, postponed a week by rain. In that feature Rick Senneker came out victorious over Matt Corliss, Krick, Terry and Andy Bozell. The second half of the top ten was led by Shook, who beat out Harrington, Brooks, Matt Frazier and Marc Casey.

The Super Stocks started the evening off by resuming their feature from the previous week. Kenny Head picked up the win in the first half of the double header holding off Buddy Head, Scott Rugg, Chris Shannon and Jerry Pierman. Patrick Kirkendall finished sixth ahead of James Roden, Kelli Jo Hofacker, Rob Hardy and Jordan Hunderman.

The second feature saw a lot of intense racing action with Buddy Head emerging victorious to complete the Head brother’s sweep of the features. Rugg finished second while Hofacker, fast qualifier Kenny Head and Shannon completed the top five. Pierman finished sixth beating out Rodney Spencer, Mike Williams, Geoff Druin and Roden.

The Pro Stock division also had double features with the first feature being their biggest event of the season, the “Pro Stock Cash Bash Presented by Applebee’s”. The action packed event saw Budd Hybels come out on top holding off Barry Jenkins, Keith Wilfong, Zach Westdorp and Greg Brown. John Foote Jr. finished sixth ahead of Doug Smith, John Bassett, Bruce Wiard and Dave Hopwood.

The night’s second feature saw John Foote Jr. end the event in victory lane after holding off Brent Hook over the closing laps to pick up the victory. Hybels finished third ahead of Wilfong and Jenkins. The second half of the top ten was led by Westdorp over Ron Landis, Brown, Ed Burgen and Bassett. Toby Montgomery set quick time.

The Mini Stocks ran “Mini Stock Mayhem Presented by USA Earthworks” with Jerime Damron picking up the victory in a hard fought battle with Chuck Greer. Billy Bussema finished third ahead of Chaz Hook and former champion Frank Stager. Shane Clark finished sixth ahead of Noah Gallandt, fast qualifier Mike McKee, Daniel Bratcher and Logan Knight.

The Cyber Stock division ran their biggest event of the season, the “Cyber Stock Goat Roper 25 Presented by Weller Auto Parts”. When the checkered flag flew fan favorite Curtis “Tiger” Towne picked up the win over Cliff Lambert, Josh Roberts, fast qualifier Jerry Jansen Jr. and Jerry Jansen III. Kyle Jansen led the second half of the top ten over Brian Gregersen, Ryan Hufford, Keegan Dykstra and Dan Rigoni.

With last Saturday night’s program being cut short by weather it sets up a race fans dream this Saturday night as Kalamazoo Speedway will have 8 full length features for just $8! LKQ will be sponsoring the annual “Low Dough Night” with double features for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models being the featured events. They will run the “Texas Corral 50” originally scheduled for June 21 as well as the “LKQ 50” both on the same night! The Super Stocks will complete the final 23 laps of their feature plus run an entire second feature, while the Pro Stocks will run the rescheduled “Pro Stock Cash Bash Presented by Applebee’s” as well as a second feature. The Mini Stocks will run “Mini Stock Mayhem Presented by USA Earthworks”, which will pay $400 to the winner. Finally the Cyber Stock will run their biggest event of the season, the “Cyber Stock Goat Roper 25 Presented by Weller Auto Parts”, which will pay $300 to the winner. In addition to eight features Kalamazoo Speedway will also be hosting “Kidz Nite #2” which will feature big wheel and bike races for the kids at 6:30. Any kids wanting to participate in this event are welcome and should be at the track no later than 6:15.

Phil Bozell was the quickest of twenty NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models in qualifying Saturday night at Kalamazoo Speedway before rain postponed the “Texas Corral 50” to next Saturday night. Brian Bergakker was second fastest ahead of Mark Shook, John Chapman and Adam Terry. The second half of the top ten was led by Billy Shannon over Luke Krick, Mike “Bubba” Brooks, AJ Foote and Matt Corliss. Corey Ryman and Matt Corliss won the heat races. Due to the rainout the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models will run two 50 lap features this Saturday night, June 28.

The Super Stocks got seven laps into their main event before rain postponed the conclusion to next Saturday night. When the race resumes Scott Rugg will be the leader over Buddy Head, Jake Hopwood, Kenny Head and Chris Shannon. Rob Hardy will restart sixth ahead of Jordan Hunderman, Gary Denzel, Jerry Pierman and James Roden. Kenny Head was the evening’s fastest qualifier while the Head brothers split the two heat races. The Super Stocks will complete the final 23 laps of their feature and run an entire second feature this Saturday night.

The Pro Stock division held qualifying for their biggest race of the season, the “Pro Stock Cash Bash Presented by Applebee’s” with Toby Montgomery setting fast time over Budd Hybels, Brent Hook, John Foote Jr. and Lloyd Brooks. Barr Jenkins qualified sixth beating out Zach Westdorp, Greg Brown, Keith Wilfong and Dave Hopwood. The rainout will now see the Pro Stock division running their 35 lap “Pro Stock Cash Bash Presented by Applebee’s” this Saturday night in addition to their normal 30 lap feature.

The Mini Stocks did get in a complete program with Chuck Greer picking up the feature victory over Jerime Damron, former champion Frank Stager, Billy Bussema and Sierra Lantz. The second half of the top ten was led by former Cyber Stock champion Keith Dunham, Noah Gallandt, Shane Clark, Brian Echtinaw and Brock Potter. Mike Mckee set quick time while Damron and Dunham picked up the heat race victories. This Saturday night the Mini Stocks will run “Mini Stock Mayhem Presented by USA Earthworks”, which will pay $400 to the winner.

Young Keegan Dykstra picked up a popular victory in the Cyber Stock feature holding off Curtis Towne, Jerry Jansen Jr., Kyle Jansen and Drew Maxwell for the victory. Brian Gregersen finished sixth beating out DJ Oxford, Josh Roberts, Cliff Lambert and Bob Miller. Jansen Jr. was the evening fastest qualifier while Dykstra and Dion Vrooman collected the heat race victories.  The Cyber Stocks will run their biggest event of the season, the “Cyber Stock Goat Roper 25 Presented by Weller Auto Parts” this Saturday night. After a one week break Kalamazoo Speedway will return to action on Saturday, June 21 with another full five in one show featuring the “Texas Corral 50” for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models. Also in action will be the Super Stocks and Pro Stocks, who will run their biggest event of the season, the “Pro Stock Cash Bash Presented by Applebee’s”. The event will pay $700 to the winner. Mini Stocks and Cyber Stocks will complete the program.

John Long returned to Kalamazoo Speedway Saturday night and picked up right where he left off by winning the “Shifters 50” for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models. It was Long’s second victory of the season and he became only the second driver to win more than one race in the division this season. AJ Foote ran an impressive race to come home second ahead of Todd Harrington and point leader Mike “Bubba” Brooks. Matt Frazier finished a solid fifth ahead of Rick Senneker, Marc Casey, John Chapman, Corey Ryman and Billy Shannon. Notable finishers included Luke Krick, who finished 15th. Mark Shook set quick time of the twenty Outlaw Super Late Models on the property while Marc Casey and Dan Roodvoets collected the heat race victories.

The Auto Value Super Sprint Series ran a very entertaining forty lap feature with JoJo Helberg emerging victorious. Joe Swanson finished second ahead of Davey Hamilton Jr., Kevin Feeney and David Byrne. The second half of the top ten was led by Jason Blonde over Mike Astrauskas, Cody Gallugly, Ron Koehler and Dustin Daggett. Helberg also set quick time with a lap at 10.530 seconds and 128.205mph. Heat race wins went to Feeney, Blonde and Daggett.

The Top Speed Modified Tour did not disappoint as they put on a great race which saw Travis Eddy collect the victory in a hard fought battle with Derrick Griffin. Jordan Pruitt finished third beating out Greg Fullerton and Brad Springer. Walt Obrinske finished sixth ahead of Mark Bott, Mel Klein, Bud Gripe and Damon Breedlove. Griffin set quick time while heats went to Pruitt and Klein.
