Two-Time Track Champion Ben Raber Passes Away

Ben Raber tragically lost his life early Saturday AM.  The complete obituary and service information are below.

Passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018. Ben was born June 10, 1984 in Allegan, MI the son of Dale and Cindy (Fales) Raber. He was employed for several years as a sales manager for Octane Trailers. Ben started racing cars at an early age. He raced for many years at the Kalamazoo and Galesburg Speedways. Ben raced all types of cars from Go-Karts to Late Models. He won many awards and Championships at all levels during his racing days and was well loved by all that knew him. He was instrumental in the start up of the LKS (Little Kalamazoo Speedway), and put many hours of work into the project which has grown immensely. Ben had a huge heart and always had encouraging words for anyone that was in need. His smile was contagious and will be well remembered. Ben is survived by his mother, Cindy (Kenny) Head; his father, Dale Raber; grand-father, Leon Fales; sister and brothers, Aimee (Ken TerMeer, Jake Raber, Dustin (Brandi) Stickley, Will Raber; and several aunts and uncles. The family would like people to bring a picture of Ben to post on memory boards at the funeral home. Friends may meet the family Wednesday, June 13 from 4-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street where funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, June 14. Immediately following the service friends are invited to join the family at the Kalamazoo Speedway for food and remembering Ben’s life. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Little Kalamazoo Speedway, 7428 S. Westnedge, Portage, MI 49002.
