Phil Bozell Wins Hoosier Hustle as Bergakker Gains More Points

Phil Bozell charged all the way from his 12th starting spot to overtake Todd Harrington for the lead and then hold on to win Saturday night’s Hoosier Hustle at Kalamazoo Speedway.  It was the second victory of the season for the defending champion, who is making a strong comeback in the battle for the championship.  Speaking of comebacks, Brian Bergakker finished an impressive 2nd place, which now puts him just 56 points out of the lead in the battle for his first Outlaw Super Late Model title.  Todd Harrington finished 3rd after winning two features in a row.  Point leader Andy Bozell continued his streak of remarkable consistency with a 4th place finish ahead of Trent Hellenga.  Jeff Bozell finished 6th beating Randy Chupp, Rick Senneker, fast qualifier Tyler Roahrig and Eric McGlothlen.  Andy Bozell, Dave Sensiba and Luke Krick won the heat races.

Jason Blonde made an impressive return to sprint car racing with a win in the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series feature.  Brian Gerster was second ahead of Aaron Pierce, fastest qualifier Jojo Helberg and Jacob Wilson.  Troy Decaire finished 6th ahead of Jimmy McCune, Donnie Adams, Mike Larrison and Jason Cox.    McCune, Kyle Flint and Decaire won the heats.

The Pro Stock feature rolled out just as the rains came.  This means Pro Stocks will run double feature this Saturday, July 21!

This Saturday night the action promises to be intense!  The Outlaw Super Late Models will highlight the show with the running of the “Shifters 50”.  Brian Bergakker and Phil Bozell will continue to try and cut into 12-time champion Andy Bozell’s point lead.  Speaking of great point battles the Super Stocks have just 10 points separating Brandon Lyons and Kenny Head, with Chris Shannon only 39 points back in third.  They will return to action this Saturday night.  The Pro Stocks will run double features, due to last Saturday’s rainout.  The Mini Stocks will also be back with their biggest event on the calendar, the Mini Stock Nationals presented by Best Way Disposal.  That event will pay $500 to win, the biggest payday of the season for Mini Stocks.  Finally the fan favorite Cyber Stocks will also make their return to action.
