With Brian Bergakker and Andy Bozell just 21 points apart heading into this Saturday night’s championship deciding event, the Allstar Performance 100, they have understandably gotten most of the headlines this week. Despite that there are several other storylines heading into this event, all of which should be very interesting to watch play out. Among those headlines are:
-Bergakker also holds a slim 17 point lead in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series State championship point battle. If he finishes 7th or better on Saturday night he will clinch this championship.
-There are some heavy hitters expected to make the trip to the Zoo Saturday night in hopes of claiming the $1,500 prize in the Allstar Performance 100. Kalamazoo Klash fast qualifier Tyler Roahrig and his father JR Roahrig are expected to contend, as is Thomas Harding Memorial Klash Tune-Up winner Jeff Ganus. The Allstar Performance 100 will also be the first Kalamazoo Speedway Outlaw Super Late Model start for former Modified driver Jon Beach. You can visit Allstar Performance online at www.allstarperformance.com.
-A 15th place or better finish will lock up the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Michigan State Rookie of the Year title for Jamison Russell. Russell brings a 34 point advantage over Matt Bainbridge into this final race of the season.
-As if they weren’t in enough battles already, Brian Bergakker and Andy Bozell are locked in one final battle. They are the only two remaining drivers eligible to win the 92.5 WZUU Outlaw Super Late Model Hard Charger Award. Bergakker brings a 16 point edge into this final race in the Hard Charger point standings. 92.5 THE ZUU will present the Hard Charger Award for the Outlaw Super Late Models and will present the winner with $250 and a plaque at the 2012 Kalamazoo Speedway Awards Ceremony.
