NHRA Top Fuel Dragster Driver to Serve as Grand Marshall & Sign Autographs This Friday, May 27th!

Kalamazoo Speedway fans will be treated to a guest appearance by one of the fastest race car drivers in the world on Friday, May 27.  NHRA Top Fuel Dragster driver Terry McMillen will serve as the Grand Marshall for the event and will host an autograph session for all Kalamazoo Speedway fans!  McMillen and his Amalie Motor Oil team reached the finals earlier this season at the Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals, one of the biggest events on the NHRA circuit.  McMillen currently sits 10th in the Top Fuel point standings, the final spot a driver can be in to make NHRA’s Countdown to the Championship.  McMillen has a career best speed of 326.71mph.

Kalamazoo Speedway owner Gary Howe said, “I think it’s awesome that one of the greatest drag racers in the world has agreed to come hang out at an oval track for a night!  Oval track fans and drag race fans both have something to get excited about for May 27th!  I think Terry will have the opportunity to gain some new fans from our little world and we might be able to show some local drag racing fans that our product is pretty exciting also.  It’s a win-win for all parties involved.”

McMillen is also excited about his first trip to the Zoo.  “I’m a big fan of anything that goes fast and I can’t wait to get to Kalamazoo,” McMillen said. “It’s a big honor to be the Grand Marshall and to be a part of the events that Shawn McLaughlin and Lane Automotive do there week in and week out at the ‘Zoo’. Heck, I might even jump in a Flip Flop Cyber Stock and make a few laps. The front and back straight away look a lot like a drag strip to me, I should be OK – right? I’m used to being in the wall after last week at the NHRA Houston race, I just need someone to show me where the parachutes are on those stock cars and it will all be good.”

McMillen’s appearance makes what was already a great night even greater.  All five Kalamazoo Speedway weekly divisions will be in action that night as well as the Southwest Michigan Mini Stock Challenge Series.  The night will be highlighted by the Lane 75 for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models.  Kids will be able to get in on the action as well as there will be big wheel and bike races on the track at 7:00!  Finally, the night will conclude with a great fireworks display to kick off the Memorial Day weekend!
