Track Talk – December 13, 2017

You’ll notice more “off nights” for each class on the 2018 racing schedule with more emphasis on the weekly classes rather than traveling series. Each class will have a night (or two) to be the star of the show with a higher purse to match the notoriety. Not only is the track’s entry level class changing its name from Flip Flop Cyber Stocks to Zoo Stocks but the directional “flip flop” is out as well. The Zoo Stocks will [...]

Track Talk – November 8, 2017

The official close to the 2017 season, October 28 marked the Awards Ceremony to honor drivers, teams, sponsors and employees. While everyone couldn’t be recognized with an award, Kalamazoo Speedway officials gave a shout out to everyone who helped make the 2017 a success. Gary Howe, track owner, started things off with trophies for the top eight sponsors and a few special awards. As far as Howe was concerned, he was captured in WAY too many shots and try as [...]

Saturday, September 30. (Part II) And after 4 rounds of qualifying, the heat races started at 4:30. The FWD cars were up first (6 laps) and went caution free until the 3rd heat, finishing with 6 of the 10 heats going caution free. Remaining campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis by checking in at the camping office located at the front gate of the Speedway. Yes, we know the sign says Super Shoe XXX instead of XXXI. But you get the idea. Pictured in the early morning sun are (from right to left) Dee Baker, her […]

No early staking is allowed so save your energy for the footrace. Campers and trailers may be placed at the campsites later that […]

Track Talk – August 30, 2017

Saturday, September 2 is the Call of the Wild, the Speedway’s“Run What Ya Brung” night. One look at the cars and it’s evident the rule book will not be enforced! Which feature a driver races in is dependent on speed, not what kind of car it is. Likely the biggest draw for the Call of the Wild is the 30 minutes comprising the […]

Track Talk – August 23, 2017

For all but the Outlaw Super Late Models, the feature races will be 5 laps longer. For instance, the Pro Stocks will run a 35-lap feature rather than the usual 30. For the Super Lates it’s a 100 lap season finale.  No heats will be run, which means that a perfect points night is 150 (fast time [50 points] and the […]
