Zack Westdorp Wins Kalamazoo Klassic 200

(Kalamazoo, MI)  The Kalamazoo Speedway capped off the holiday weekend with a Belle Tire Enduro called the Kalamazoo Klassic. The event also featured a powder puff enduro and spectator races to entertain the fans. The grey clouds threatened all across the area, but didn’t keep the fans and drivers showing up and putting on a great show.

The Spectator Drags started off the event with a unique twist keeping the big tractor tires on the track used for the endure event. The drivers included Gary Gumba, Luke Krick, Jack Cook, Matt Elsey, Matt Westveld, and Doug Smith as some weekly racers at the Kalamazoo Speedway involved. The finals came down to a best of three event with Westveld and Gumba. The ford Mustang of Westveld edging Gumba two to one in the contest picking up the $200 in his effort.

The two-hundred lap Kalamazoo Klassic was next featuring over seventy starters taking to the fastest track in the world. The event had some shocking turn of events that saw a another first time winner in Zack Westdrop picking up the cash over Dave Miller, Don Simmons, Jr., Alan Thornton, Corey Miechiels, Shane Miller, Randy Clingan, Tristin Dupree, Jim Cauffman, Greg Brown, Eddy Burgen, Terry Ferrll, Tim Easey, Robert Boersen, Don Simmons, Sr., Greg LaPierre, Keith Dunham, Bob Holtham, and Ryan Juarez rounding out the top twenty spots.

The final event of the event of the night was the twenty lap powder puff enduro. The event saw Lindsey Gernaat got out to an early lead before lapped traffic got involved allowing Angie Lapierre take the lead. Lapierre held on to take the win over Lapierre, Gernaat, Stephanie Bloomer, Jessica Brown, Jennifer Schoonbeck, Jamie Johncock, Gina Mele, Marilyn Lambert, Rhonda Holtham, and Abby Wheeler rounding out the top ten.

The Kalamazoo Speedway will be back in action this Saturday night September 8th, at 7:00PM with the annual Night of Destruction. The event will feature the ever popular School Bus and Skid Plate races. The event will also see for the first time ever the BMX Motor Cross flying through the air and also the Monster Trucks will also be in attendance.
