The Zoo Gets Wet and Wild

(Kalamazoo, MI) The Kalamazoo Speedway hosted the Pumpkin Patch Enduro presented by Belle Tire Stores of South West Michigan. Mother Nature had to throw one last punch at the local racers, but the racers would not give in to racing the entire program in the rain. The 100% chance didn’t cause the speedway officials to hesitate to get the program in to close the racing season out.

The special road course was set up only to use only half of the racing surface using the infield pit area and turns one and two of the world’s fastest 3/8 mile race track. The speedway officials are doing everything thing they can to reignite the struggling Belle Tire Enduro Series that has seen the car count drop off over the recent years. With the new payout and rules to recreate the “Old School” enduro races attracted an impressive sixty-nine to take the green flag.

The event saw last enduro winner Zach Westdrop take the early lead during the two hour timed event. Westdrop would be over taken by Jim Cuaffman to take the win over Westdrop, Phil Bozell, Aaron Rheinsburg, Eddy Burgen, Jeff DenBraber, Corey Miechiels, Zack Cook, Robert Boerson, Keith Dunham, Adam Wilfong, Doug Fox, Brad Ingle, Bob Holtham, Barry Jenkins, Mark Rozell, Kurt Pease, Mike “Bubba” Brooks, Darren Duckham, and Issac Breuker rounding out the top twenty cars.

The Kalamazoo Speedway will close out its 2012 season with annual awards banquet on Saturday night October 27th, at the Radisson Hotel downtown Kalamazoo.
