Terry Senneker Captures His Third Kalamazoo Klash

Terry Senneker

Terry Senneker became the first driver to win the Kalamazoo Klash back-to-back since Andy Bozell did it 19 years ago by picking up the victory in Wednesday night’s 150 lap event.  Senneker started deep in the pack and methodically worked his way to the front.  He finished the first segment in second position and a four car inversion placed him third on the grid for the final segment.  It didn’t take Senneker long to get to the front and once he did he never relinquished the lead, picking up the $10,000 check that came along with the win.  Tyler Roahrig finished an impressive second place ahead of former Klash winner Phil Bozell, Brian Ross and four-time Klash winner Andy Bozell.  JR Roahrig led the second half of the top ten over John Long, defending Outlaw Super Late Model champion Brian Bergakker, Mark Shook and Billy Shannon.  Ross Meeuwsen was the fastest of 32 qualifiers with a lap of 11.826 seconds while John Chapman won the Klash Bash ‘B’ Feature.

The Boyne Machine Shootout Presented by Enterprise Iron & Metal showcased template Late Models racing for $7,500 to win in their 100 lap main event.  2011 Outlaw Super Late Model champion Phil Bozell was able to hold off fast qualifier Tim Devos and 2012 Outlaw Super Late Model champion Brian Bergakker over the closing laps to pick up the victory.  Steve Dorer finished fourth ahead of Mike Bursley.  The second half of the top ten was led by Chris Koslick over Ross Kenseth, Jordan Dahlke, Jon Beach and Andrew Nylan.

Only two races remain to determine the 2013 Kalamazoo Speedway champions and the next event takes place this Saturday, August 24.  It will be a full 5 in 1 show featuring the “Edelbrock 50” for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models.  Mike “Bubba” Brooks holds an incredibly slim 8 point lead over defending champion Brian Bergakker entering the event.  The Super Stocks will run the “Super Stock Spectacular Presented by 92.5 the ZUU” and will see the championship battle between Buddy and Kenny Head continue.  The Pro Stocks and Mini Stocks will also be in action as will the Cyber Stocks running “Cyber Stock Mania Presented by Renegade”.  In addition to all of the action on track this will also be the final autograph night of 2013.
