Southwest Michigan Mini Stock Challenge Announced
Three local SW Michigan short tracks have teamed up to form the Southwest Michigan Mini Stock Challenge for the 2016 season. The management from Galesburg, M-40 and Kalamazoo Speedway’s are working together to host a 16 race series for the Mini Stocks begining on April 29th. M-40 & Galesburg will each host 5 races each while Kalamazoo will host 6 races thru out the 2016 season. All three tracks will pay the same weekly purse ($300 to win-150-125-110-100-90-85- 80 to start) and the three tracks have posted a minimal guaranteed point fund paying back 5 spots, including $1000 to the winner of the three track series. Series sponsors are being sought after in hopes of having a more solid weekly pay off, several contingency awards as well as more point fund backing.
As weekly racetracks continue to struggle to fill up the grandstands as well as the car counts in specific classes, this new approach seems to be great way to try and rectify these issues for the tracks as well as the race teams! Stay tuned for more announcements coming in the near future!
