“Bubba” Wins “Raceceiver 50” @ the Zoo

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Model point leader Mike “Bubba” Brooks picked up the victory Saturday night in the “Raceceiver 50” at Kalamazoo Speedway. Brandon Zachary picked up the best finish of his Outlaw Super Late Model career at the speedway by finishing an impressive second ahead of Matt Corliss, John Chapman and Marc Casey. Matt Krywosinski led the second half of the top ten over Luke Krick, Matt Frazier, AJ Foote and Todd Harrington. Robbie Ferrier set quick time while heat wins went to Brooks and Billy Shannon.

Kenny Head returned to victory lane in the thirty lap Super Stock feature, holding off his brother Buddy by 0.763 seconds. Brandon Lyons returned to the speedway with an impressive third place finish ahead of Chris Shannon and Rodney Spencer. Jerry Pierman finished sixth beating out Kelli Jo Hofacker, Jack Cook, Scott Rugg and David Guarino. Buddy Head was the fastest qualifier while Lyons and Pierman won the heat races.

The Cyber Stock division saw another action packed feature with young Josh Roberts coming out on top. Roberts held off Brian Gregersen, Cliff Lambert, Kyle Jansen and Jerry Jansen Jr. for the victory. Keegan Dykstra finished sixth ahead of Jerry Jansen III, Ryan Hufford, Kyle Shannon and Doug Nelson. Jansen Jr. was the events fastest qualifier while heat wins were picked up by Roberts and Hufford.

The Must See Racing.com Xtreme Sprint Series was the final event of the night and they ran their fifty lap feature in just under 10 minutes!! Jim McCune emerged victorious over Aaron Pierce, Ryan Gillenwater, Troy DeCaire and Brian Gerster. Davey Hamilton Jr. finished sixth beating out David Byrne, Cody Hoover, Billie Wease and Sondi Eden. Gillenwater set quick time with a 10.636 second lap, which is an average of 126.927mph. Heat wins went to Wease, Hoover and Gerster.

This Saturday night, August 2nd is the final “Low Dough Show” of the 2014, where adult admission is only $8!! The Super Stocks will run their biggest event of the season, the “Super Stock Spectacular Presented by USA Earthworks”, which will pay $1,000 to the winner! The Pro Stocks will run the “Pro Stock Open Presented by 92.5 the ZUU”, which will pay $500 to win. The Vores Compact Touring Series North will also be in town for their final trip to the Zoo in 2014. Mini Stocks and Cyber Stocks will complete the program. All divisions will be running the fan favorite “Australian Pursuit” races to kick off the night. There will also be Big Wheel/Bicycle races for the kids!
