1. Each of the past 5 seasons, Kalamazoo Speedway has tried to work with local tracks to make their opening nights as much of a special event as they can. For 9 straight years, Kalamazoo Speedway has hosted one of the premiere Outlaw Late Model events in the Midwest with the running of the Intimidator 100, drawing many drivers from area tracks. This big Late Model extravaganza on our season opener somewhat overshadows our support divisions and this year, our weekly Modified drivers have the opportunity to race at a prestigious & well paying event at Berlin Raceway on our scheduled first night of racing. Rather than divide the Modifieds on the west side of lower Michigan, Kalamazoo Speedway has opted to host Modified Mania the following week on May 1st and to give our Modifieds April 24th off instead of May 15th. This should be a win- win for our drivers & Modified fans as the drivers will have the first two weeks of the season to race in two prestigious & well paying races & our fans should see a huge car count of Mods on May 1st for the $1200 to win Modified Mania. There will also be some good bonus $$$ for the Mod drivers that have the best combined finishes for the two events.
2. Due to the modification of the Modified schedule, the Cyber Stocks will not be racing on May 15th. We have tried to give each class off an equal number of events to try and ease the burden of a somewhat hectice racing schedule.
3. Due to the recent announcement of the B-93 Birthday Bash moving to Martin Dragway on June 19th, Kalamazoo Speedway is excited to announce their Friday Night Jammin’ at the Zoo special on Friday, June 18th! Where else could you ever watch 5 of the hottest classes of race cars including our Outlaw Super Late Models, race an action packed show for only a $5 admission? Then go and top that off by having a Country Ho-down as a band or two will be letting it go playing up in the midway for 3 hours following the races!! But wait, we will go one step better than that and will be offering $1 draft beer for the entire night (not like the $5 beers at the Birthday Bash) to make this the Entertainment Value Night of 2010!
4. Kalamazoo Speedway to go Topless on July 10th! Well, at least the Modifieds are going to be Topless as Kalamazoo Speedway is going to be hosting the first annual Topless Mod Night at the Zoo on Saturday, July 10th. Over 35 Modifieds are expected to compete in this non-point $1000 (and growing) to win special event, grabbing several traveling teams for this historic event. And since the Mods are letting their tops down, Kalamazoo Speedway is going to be dropping a few things of their own as this will be a $9 Low Dough Show as well as a $1 Beer & Hot Dog Night!! Mark this one down on the calendar for a can’t miss racing weekend at the Zoo!
