Luke Krick held off point leader Mike “Bubba” Brooks in a thrilling finish to the 7UP for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models Saturday night at Kalamazoo Speedway. “Gentleman” John Chapman finished a solid third ahead of Matt Frazier and Rick Senneker. The second half of the top ten was led by Matt Corliss over AJ Foote, Brandon Zachary, Marc Casey and Ben Raber. Mark Shook set quick time while Todd Harrington and Brandon Zachary won the heats.

The Super Stock finish saw a photo finish with Kenny Head beating his brother Buddy Head by 0.028 seconds at the finish line. Chris Shannon finished third while Jerry Pierman and Kelli Jo Hofacker rounded out the top five. Scott Rugg drove from last to finish sixth ahead of Jack Cook, Jordan Hunderman, Rob Hardy and Geoff Druin. Buddy Head set quick time while Kenny Head and Hunderman won the heat races.

A hard charging John Foote Jr. came out on top of the thirty lap Pro Stock feature. Ryan Beadle ran an extremely impressive second ahead of veterans Budd Hybels, Brent Hook and Keith Wilfong. The second half of the top ten was led by Barry Jenkins over fast qualifier Robbie Ferrier, Ed Burgen, Greg Brown and Jeff Wanamaker. Beadle and Foote Jr. won the two Pro Stock heats.

The Mini Stocks ran their biggest event of the season, “Mini Stock Nationals Presented by Steensma” and saw young Chaz Hook end up in victory lane after holding off Jerime Damron for the victory. Shane Clark finished third ahead of Sierra Lantz and Andrew Brest. Billy Bussema finished sixth beating out Noah Gallandt, Brian Echtinaw, former champion Frank Stager and Logan Knight. Chuck Greer was the fastest qualifier.

As usual the Cyber Stock feature saw a lot of action with Bob Miller holding off young Keegan Dyskstra and point leader Jerry Jansen Jr. for the victory. Dion Vrooman finished fourth ahead of Brian Gregersen, Doug Nelson, Cliff Lambert, Ryan Hufford, Drew Maxwell and Dan Rigoni. Jerry Jansen Jr. set quick time while Kyle Jansen and Bob Miller collected the heat race victories.

This Saturday, July 19th the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models take center stage with the running of the annual “Hoosier Hustle”. This will be a 75 lap event and pay $1,500 to the winner. In addition to the Outlaw Super Lates the Super Stocks, Pro Stocks, Mini Stocks and Cyber Stocks will also be in action.
