Saturday – September 22 – Super Shoe Camping Spots Race

On Saturday, September 22nd at 12:00 noon, the fun will begin as the green flag will fly for picking out your camping spots for the Super Shoe Nationals. After last year’s massive event that came slightly close to being a train wreck at the Zoo, we are forced to evoke a few new rules for this year’s shotgun start…..

You can get to the track Saturday as early as you want to but the actual race to reserve the campsites will not start until exactly 12:00 noon. At 11:30AM, speedway officials will go over the complete camping area & will be removing all stakes & caution tape that any early birds have laid out to mark off their spots. But new for this year is the following:

Only people on foot will be taking off to mark off their spots when the green flag is dropped (no cars, bikes, golf carts, trucks, motor cycles, riding lawn mowers or drag cars this year)!! I would suggest that any old fat guys like myself, find a young spirited individual who wants to show just how fast they can run while carrying 4 stakes, a roll of caution tape & a hammer. At 12:15 after the dust has settled, we will allow vehicles to slowly make their way to their marked off spots and the week of Super Shoe will officially begin. You may then set up your campsites, pitch your tents and park your campers. But remember, campsites will be extremely tight this year and we can’t have you taking too big of an area if you aren’t going to be filling the spots with campers. Car trailers will not be allowed out in the camping area as we have a ton of space in behind the back stretch wall as well as in the field across the street to the North West of the track.

Saturday – September 15 – Call of the Wild Presented by Raceceiver & Sweet Manufacturing

This Saturday night will see perhaps the wildest event on the entire Kalamazoo Speedway schedule with the annual running of the Call of the Wild presented by Raceceiver and Sweet Manufacturing. This is essentially a “Run What Ya Brung” event that will feature some of the wildest looking cars ever to see a racetrack.  The fifty lap feature will pay $1,500 to the winner.  There will also be a special qualifying hour from 8:00-9:00 that will see the eight fastest cars from practice battle it out for $999 if one of them can run a lap in the nine second bracket and break Andy Bozell’s world record (set in this event last year) of 10.020 seconds.  Even if no cars are able to break into the nine’s, the events fastest qualifier will receive a $500 product certificate from Sweet Manufacturing.  Outlaw Mini Stocks and Outlaw FWD’s will also be on hand to complete the program.

Saturday – September 8 – Night of Destruction 2012 – See Bus Races – Monster Trucks – Fireworks – This is the Big One!

The Kalamazoo Speedway will be rocking on Saturday, September 8th, at 7:00PM with the annual Night of Destruction. The world’s fastest short track will be turned into a grave yard for old cars, boats, and buses as the escapees from the local “Insane Asylum” will be piloting them on their path of destruction. This will certainly be the show your momma warned you about!

The ever popular School Bus Boat Races will be one of the main events of the night, featuring drivers from the Kalamazoo Speedway trying to crash each other while knocking off their boats and trailers and simply destroying anything on the track! In previous years we have seen the buses get knocked over on there side or even slam through the infield retaining wall.

The track staff is always trying to keep the event on the cutting edge of entertainment and in doing so will feature a new act this year with FMX Free Style Motor Cross Show. The FMX team will be flying through the air, and will be doing back flips and everything else imaginable high above the ground in the air entertaining the Kalamazoo Speedway fans.

The ever popular Spectator Drags are back giving fans a chance to tackle the high banks of the speedway battling it out for a cash prize and trophies.  Other specialty events such as the Skid Plate Races and The Gauntlet Race will be back, as both will leave a path of devastation behind them. If that isn’t enough destruction for you, the Monster Trucks, featuring the TV stars “Avenger” & “Little Miss Dangerous” will hit the speedway like a tornado in a trailer park destroying everything in their paths.

The event will be capped off with another famous mind blowing Kalamazoo Speedway Fireworks Show!  This Night Of Destruction show will be ran rain or shine-sleet or snow and will be sure to bring in a large crowd…….GET HERE EARLY to find a seat & avoid the long lines and don’t chance missing any of the action!!  If you want to live life large like a member of the “Beverly Hills Hillbillies” in luxury you can purchase a Speedway Sky Box for the evening. Call the ticket office at 269-692-2423 with any questions concerning group tickets or early ticket sales.

Tickets for this event are $15 for adults, $10 for kids 10-15, $5 for kids 5-9 years old and kids under 5 are Free!!  Tickets can be purchased the day of the show or they can be picked up early by calling the speedway office. Please visit our website at www.KalamazooSpeedway.com for all of the upcoming information on the Night of Destruction, Call of the Wild and Super Nationals. The Kalamazoo Speedway is located at 7656 Ravine Road in Kalamazoo, MI just off from US 131.
