Bozell & Senneker Split Double Features @ the Zoo
Twelve-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Kalamazoo Speedway Outlaw Super Late Model champion Andy Bozell picked up the victory in Saturday night’s “LKQ 50” at Kalamazoo Speedway. Bozell held off a hard charging Todd Harrington for the victory while fast qualifier Mark Shook, Luke Krick and John Chapman rounded out the top five. Adam Terry finished a solid sixth ahead of Phil Bozell, Mike “Bubba” Brooks, Rick Senneker and Matt Krywosinski.
The Outlaw Super Late Models also ran the “Texas Corral 50”, postponed a week by rain. In that feature Rick Senneker came out victorious over Matt Corliss, Krick, Terry and Andy Bozell. The second half of the top ten was led by Shook, who beat out Harrington, Brooks, Matt Frazier and Marc Casey.
The Super Stocks started the evening off by resuming their feature from the previous week. Kenny Head picked up the win in the first half of the double header holding off Buddy Head, Scott Rugg, Chris Shannon and Jerry Pierman. Patrick Kirkendall finished sixth ahead of James Roden, Kelli Jo Hofacker, Rob Hardy and Jordan Hunderman.
The second feature saw a lot of intense racing action with Buddy Head emerging victorious to complete the Head brother’s sweep of the features. Rugg finished second while Hofacker, fast qualifier Kenny Head and Shannon completed the top five. Pierman finished sixth beating out Rodney Spencer, Mike Williams, Geoff Druin and Roden.
The Pro Stock division also had double features with the first feature being their biggest event of the season, the “Pro Stock Cash Bash Presented by Applebee’s”. The action packed event saw Budd Hybels come out on top holding off Barry Jenkins, Keith Wilfong, Zach Westdorp and Greg Brown. John Foote Jr. finished sixth ahead of Doug Smith, John Bassett, Bruce Wiard and Dave Hopwood.
The night’s second feature saw John Foote Jr. end the event in victory lane after holding off Brent Hook over the closing laps to pick up the victory. Hybels finished third ahead of Wilfong and Jenkins. The second half of the top ten was led by Westdorp over Ron Landis, Brown, Ed Burgen and Bassett. Toby Montgomery set quick time.
The Mini Stocks ran “Mini Stock Mayhem Presented by USA Earthworks” with Jerime Damron picking up the victory in a hard fought battle with Chuck Greer. Billy Bussema finished third ahead of Chaz Hook and former champion Frank Stager. Shane Clark finished sixth ahead of Noah Gallandt, fast qualifier Mike McKee, Daniel Bratcher and Logan Knight.
The Cyber Stock division ran their biggest event of the season, the “Cyber Stock Goat Roper 25 Presented by Weller Auto Parts”. When the checkered flag flew fan favorite Curtis “Tiger” Towne picked up the win over Cliff Lambert, Josh Roberts, fast qualifier Jerry Jansen Jr. and Jerry Jansen III. Kyle Jansen led the second half of the top ten over Brian Gregersen, Ryan Hufford, Keegan Dykstra and Dan Rigoni.
This Friday, July 4th Kalamazoo Speedway will celebrate Independence Day with the running of the “Stars & Stripes Enduro Presented by “Shifters”. The event will be a road course event and the layout of this year’s track should be a driver and fan favorite! Also in competition will be the Vores Compact Touring Series, who will kick off the action for the evening. Once the fireworks are completed on the track fans will be able to turn their attention to the skies for the largest fireworks display in Kalamazoo Speedway history!
